Judy paints in watercolour because she loves to be surprised by the magic of combining water, paint & paper. She has lived with her family on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria for over 30 years. This lovely part of the world holds plenty of inspiration for an artist. Seascapes, landscapes, fruit, flowers, vegetables & birds from her garden, vases & pots from her house & eggs from her hens are all part of her subject matter.
Having always been interested in art, it was not until studying oil painting with the late John Balmain that she did anything about practicing. This brought about an awakening in the application of art, observations of colour, tone, composition & perspective began to make sense, but it was only after being introduced to watercolour that she found the medium she loved most.
Tuition from such notable watercolourists as Greg Allen, Ross Patterson, Robert Wade, Margaret Cowling, Herman Pekal & others has been an inspiration.
